How to Sell Us Your Books
WE BUY BOOKS. Folks bring us boxes of books and Nancy evaluates them and selects titles she wants for the shop. Our standard price to pay is $2 for a hardback and $1 for a paperback. If books have special value (more than $50), we pay more. If we discover when we are researching a book for pricing that we have paid too little for it, we will go back to you and offer to return it, pay more for it, or in some cases, have the book in the shop on a 50/50 consignment. Our collection is broad, eclectic, and carefully curated. We almost always need literature, poetry, and religion. And we like to say, "good books in good condition make a good collection." If you are wondering if your books are a good match for us, please call and talk with Nancy.
Nancy is generally at the shop Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 pm, and Thursday and Friday afternoons. Please call ahead to confirm that she is available to look at your books (603-643-4479). It is our policy not to have books linger here, so we ask that you plan to drop off your books and pick up the ones not selected on the same day.
WE ALSO MAKE HOUSE CALLS. If you have a significant number of books and are within reasonable distance of Hanover, we are often happy to come to your house or office to select titles for the shop. Please call and talk to Nancy to set up such an appointment.
WE HAVE A STORE CREDIT OPTION. If you'd prefer store credit to cash, we offer $3 per hardcover and $2 per paperback, with the same caveat that we'll offer more for a more valuable book.
DONATIONS. We love donations, as long as they are not moldy, excessive in number, and the books are generally a good match for our collection. Donations have kept Left Bank Books afloat. You can give your books to us knowing they will get new homes. Books we cannot use we donate to library sales--No Dumpsters!
